Green Flag Award Ceremony: City North Hotel, Gormanstown, Co. Meath

Two very lucky committee members Cáitlín and Jacob were selected by lottery to travel to the Award ceremony in City North Hotel. Accompanied by Mrs Greenan and Miss Boylan. They had the responsible task of representing the school and bringing home the flag. Thanks to Nial and Monaghan Co.Council for organising the Bus and to An Taisce for ceremony, entertainment and lunch.

St. Louis Infant School raise their 4th green flag for Travel

Thursday the 24th May was a truly wonderful day for all the children, staff and parents of St. Louis Infant School, as they assembled in front of the school to raise their 4th green flag for Travel. The sun shone, the children sang and clapped as Miss Rocks did the honours of raising the new green flag for Travel. Travel was a great flag to work towards with a very positive impact on the whole school community. It involves the whole school and is a real partnership between school, parents, Co. Council and An Taisce. The Green School Travel flag promotes a more active lifestyle as well as environmental care. It is full of fun filled activities which include big walks, little walks, lunchtime walkers, lunchtime surveys, WOW Days and much more. The children were introduced to the notion of Park and Stride and composed their own green school code.

Mrs Mc Carroll, the school Principal had a warm welcome for the visitors, parents, members of the Parents’ Association and former committee members Síomha and Clodagh. There was a special welcome for Sorcha Brophy Travel Officer from An Taisce whose travel surveys, workshops, and expertise was invaluable. She congratulated all members of the committee especially the current committee, Cáitlin ,Ryan, Elinga, Faustas, Jacob, Aleksandra, Jayden, Jan, Jessica, Zoe and Ugne. Also on the committee were Mrs Greenan, Kevin Clerkin, Miss Boylan and Miss Hughes.
Sponsored Walk

As children happily sang “Summertime” the whole school headed off on their now annual sponsored walk along the greenway. Thanks to the Parents’ Association for organising and stewarding the sponsored walk. Very tired but happy children returned to the Convent Park for a well deserved picnic.
