Seachtain na Gaeilge agus Lá Glas

We celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a Lá Glas Céilí.

Seachtain na Gaeilge, 1 – 17ú Márta 2017 was celebrated by all pupils and staff at Naí-Scoil San Lughaidh. The pupils participated in a variety of activities trí Ghaeilge in their classrooms. Amhráin, rannta, ceol agus scéalta could be heard from all the classrooms while fingers were busy in Rang a hAon on the feadóga stáin. The weeks activites were thoroughly enjoyed by all with the highlight of the week- Lá Glas agus Céilí Mór sa halla ar an Mháirt 14ú Márta.
Lá Glas brightened the day for the Céilí in the school hall with children and staff dressing up in eadaí glas. There definitely were forty shades of green to be seen on the day. Hataí beaga agus móra were worn by all children which they handmade in their classes or at home especially for Lá Glas.
Rang a hAon children set the scene at the Céilí with a poem - Naomh Pádraig. A Grúpa Ceoil from Scoil na gCailiní then entertained the children on a variety of instruments. (Our thanks to the girls for the lovely music). Ansin Rang a hAon got the opportunity to demonstrate their skills on the feadóga stáin. All the children in the school then got the opportunity to watch, listen to and participate in reciting rannta, singing amhráin, ag seinm ceol agus ag damhsa before Miss Noeleen Farrell (múinteoir) played a tune for all on the bodhrán. Go raibh maith agat Miss Farrell – A very talented young lady!
Next Rang a hAon took the floor again. Seomra 11 agus 12 entertained everyone with their dráma beag – Sicín Licín which they had performed just that morning at the Féile Drámaíochta  in The Garage Theatre. Comhgairdeas to all involved and a well deserved trophy - Maith sibh!
Ansin it was Seomra 13 agus 14 with their múinteoirí choreographing a rendition of the 1984 Riverdance with 45 Naí-Scoil San Lughaidh young dancers – Ar fheabhas!
At last it was time for the Trófaí Gaeilge. In Naí-Scoil San Lughaidh there is a continual emphasis on the promotion of Gaeilge in everyday life. This is acknowledged every week in each class with the presentation of the “Trófaí Gaeilge”. At the Céilí one child from each class was presented with the Trófaí Gaeilge in recognition of their effort in Gaeilge during Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Comhgairdeas to the winners in each class:

Naíonáin Shóisearacha: Emilis, Tiernan agus Wiktor.

Naíonáin Shinsearacha: Jacob, Ryan, Charlie agus Nicole.

Rang a hAon: Gabija, Denas, Maggie agus Mantas.

To complete Lá Glas and the Céilí Mór the children had a lán craic as they joined in some ceol with the music shakers they had individually made and decorated for the occasion.
Míle buíochas to Mrs. Connolly for all the work and organisation of events which ensured that Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Glas was a great success.
