October Planting

Outdoor activity for young children can involve many things with many benefits for young children. The sheer pleasure of running and jumping and the freedom to make as much noise as you wish. There are many social benefits for the children themselves and others eg helping the friend who falls or making new friends.

The children in the first classes had their own outdoor fun planting some spring bulbs. Our first task was to get the soil ready with some weeding and raking. We selected bluebell, crocus and snowdrop bulbs because they are native to Ireland and are known to be bee friendly. Lucky for us we had lovely Autumnal sunshine and many thanks to Eunice Mc Elroy for her gardening advice. The children are already looking forward to seeing their very own spring flowers.
