Lá Glas 2018

Lá Glas 2018

Seachtain na Gaeilge, 1 – 17ú Márta 2018 was celebrated by all pupils and staff at Naí-Scoil San Lughaidh. The pupils participated in a variety of activities trí Ghaeilge in their classrooms. Amhráin, rannta, ceol agus scéalta could be heard from all classrooms while fingers were busy in Rang a hAon on the feadóga stáin. Lá Glas agus Céilí Mór was the highlight of the week ar an hAoine 16ú Márta.

Lá Glas brightened the day for the Céili Mór in the school hall with children and staff dressing up in eadaí agus hataí glas. There definitely were forty shades of green to be seen on the day!

The Céilí began with a prayer to St Patrick. A Grúpa Ceoil from Scoil na gCailiní then entertained the children. (Our thanks to the girls for the lovely music). Ansin Rang a hAon got the opportunity to demonstrate their skills on the feadóga stáin.

All the children then got the opportunity to watch, listen to and participate in reciting rannta, singing amhráin, ag seinm ceol agus ag damhsa.

Next Rang a hAon took to the floor again. Seomra 12 agus Seomra 14 entertained everyone with their dráma beag – “Sicín Licín” which they had performed at the Féile Drámaíochta in the Garage Theatre ar an Chéadaoin 14ú Márta. Comhgairdeas to all involved and a well deserved trophy – Maith sibh!

At last it was time for the Trofaí Gaeilge. In Naí-Scoil San Lughaidh there is a continual emphasis on the promotion of Gaeilge in everyday life. This is acknowledged every week in each class with the presentation of “Trófaí Gaeilge”. At the Céili one child from each class was presented with the Trófaí Gaeilge in recognition of their effort in Gaeilge during Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Comhgairdeas to the winners in each class: Naíonáin Shóisearacha: Elsie, Logan, Hollie agus Gabriela.

Naíonáin Shinsearacha: Ugnius, Ava D agus Ewelina.

Rang a hAon: Alexandra, LoveGod, Dahy agus Hollie.

To round up Lá Glas and the Céilí Mór the children had a lán craic as they joined in some ceol with the music shakers they had individually made and decorated for the occasion.

Míle buíochas to Mrs. Connolly for all the work and organisation of events which ensured that Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Glas was a great success.

“Thaitin an lá go mór le gach duine”
